A Door, Ajar.

Negative Blu. painting by the author.

Negative Space

The place not defined — the space in between.

Try touching the gap between two chairs, stacked –

Or the void behind your Selfie hand. Can you touch the background? The sky?

What about the gaping gaps in family photos –

Airy space, or solid resentment?

Train your eye to see the holes, the shape formed by shadow –

The V formed by arms holding hands, abreast.

Doorways are interesting starting points, being as they are,

A mix of physical reality and an infinite variety of imagined composition

Once ajar.

Look at the space between the half open door and the frame…

That is a Bauhaus Form — a shaped future — a mental construct, that

In time, becomes more real than the doorway itself.

Observe -

Now you have twice the view.

Now you have choices.
